Virat Kohli has once again reminded the cricketing world why he is one of the greatest batters in the cricket history, smashing back-to-back centuries in the ongoing ODI series against South Africa. The 37-year-old produced vintage performances in Ranchi and Raipur.

Kohli’s first masterpiece came in the opening ODI in Ranchi, where he struck a superb 135 off 120 deliveries. It was his 52nd ODI hundred, making him the first player in the history of international cricket to reach 52 centuries in a single format.
Just three days later in Raipur, Kohli carried his form into the second ODI, producing another brilliant century—102 off 93 balls. Displaying flawless batting to bring up his 53rd ODI century. His partnership with Ruturaj Gaikwad, who scored his maiden ODI ton, laid the foundation for India’s total. Kohli reached his century with a calm single, greeted by a roaring Raipur crowd that celebrated yet another landmark from the modern-day great.
Despite Kohli’s brilliance, India fell short in Raipur as South Africa completed a record chase to level the series. Notably, this marked the 11th instance of Kohli scoring consecutive ODI centuries—an all-time record.
With his international century tally now climbing further, the conversation around whether Kohli can challenge Sachin Tendulkar’s iconic milestone of 100 international hundreds has intensified once again. Kohli has now total 84 International centuries just 16 centuries behind the great Sachin Tendulkar.
